The ice show "The Princess and the Golden Skates" is scheduled at 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the SoBe Ice Arena at the Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive. Tickets are $10, but a $2 discount is offered in exchange for a donation of at least three canned goods to benefit The Salvation Army. The show features local figure skaters of all ages and follows the story of a young girl given a special pair of golden skates to wear when she is crowned princess as she turns 21. The show looks at the astronomical origins of many holiday traditions and images and runs approximately 35 minutes. "2012 Mayan Prophecies" is scheduled to show at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 22. Both shows are set to be accompanied by a presentation on seasonal star gazing.
