The College of Southern Nevada's Department of Fine Arts plans to present Eugene O'Neill's "Ah, Wilderness!", a retrospective portrait of small-town family values, teenage growing pains and young love, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Nicholas J. Broadacres Marketplace and Event Center, 2930 Las Vegas Blvd. North, has added lighting so the venue can remain open for Friday night shopping and events. In addition to the marketplace's more than 1,150 vendor spaces and buildings, it also offers a wide variety of entertainment, food and beverages. Mohammed Darehbaghi's exhibit "Glorious in Full Bloom" is scheduled to be on display in the main gallery at the Left of Center Art Gallery, 2207 W. Gowan Road, through Dec. 8, and Mari Lopez's "Art As A Vehicle: For Expression, Empowerment, Exploration" is scheduled to be on display in the center's Legacy Gallery through Dec. 15. Worth a Drive
The Mob Museum, 300 E. Stewart Ave., is set to offer free admission in recognition of the Kefauver Committee hearings anniversary. Nevada residents can visit the museum free from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. The museum is scheduled to provide Kefauver programming, including the screening of a documentary about the hearings and speeches from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Diane Kefauver, daughter of the late Estes Kefauver, a U.S. senator who led the hearings in 1950. Opportunity Village's Magical Forest is set to open for its 21st year on Nov. 21 at the 6300 W. Oakey Blvd. campus. Ethel M's annual cactus-lighting event is set for today. A limited number of tickets will be available to those who bring one new, unwrapped toy to the factory at 2 Cactus Garden Drive. For each toy, people can receive a four-pack of tickets to the event, with a limit of eight tickets per family. The lighting event is expected to feature entertainers, photos with Santa Claus, face painting, balloon artists, raffles and chocolate samples. Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross plans to host the Cowboy Christmas and Classic Car Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road. The free event is scheduled to include photos with Santa, hay rides, a petting zoo, a jump house, face painting, a farmers market, craft and food vendors and historic ranch house tours. Centennial, Shadow Ridge, Arbor View, Saville, Scherkenbach, Escobedo, Lied and Cadwallader school choirs plan to perform. The U.S. Marines will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots Drive, and the city will collect nonperishable food for needy seniors in the area. Early registration for the car show is $25, due by Nov. 21, or $35 cash the day of the event. All makes, models and years are welcome.
