Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 15 miles west of Las Vegas on state Route 159, is set to host its annual Civil War Days re-enactment Friday through Sunday. Friday is set aside as an education day with groups demonstrating traditional roles from the era from noon to 3 p.m. Battles are scheduled at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The final battle is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday. The park entrance fee is $7 per car for Nevada residents. Entrance into the re-enactment camps is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 17 and free for children 5 or younger. Bring in two nonperishable food items to receive $1 off one adult ticket. The Clark County Commodore Computer Club (the 5Cs) plans to host its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Wengert Conference Room at NV Energy, 6226 W. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas plans its 41st annual Boys Nite Out event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club, 2850 Lindell Road. The event matches boys with mentors for an evening of games, a meal and prizes. The event is free to young club members and sponsored by participating men who make a minimum donation of $50. Harmon Ave., a symposium from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the El Cortez, 600 Fremont St., and a double-decker bus tour of mid-century modern neighborhoods from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Guild of Organists plans to open its 2012-13 organ recital series with a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Christ Church Episcopal at 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, featuring Richard Elliott, organist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music, the Peabody Conservatory and Catholic University of America, Elliott taught at Brigham Young University prior to his appointment at the tabernacle.
A Symphony Park Lecture Series panel discussion titled Neon Nirvana: How an Art Form Shaped a City is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S.
