Tropicana Ave. Children can look at, explore and sit in the driver's seat of more than 92 vehicles -- including firetrucks, police cars, construction trucks, race cars and big rigs. "Transfiguration Phase," an exhibit of mixed-media paintings and drawings by Orlando Montenegro, is scheduled to be on display through Friday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Local "green thumbs" will have their choice of more than 5,000 native and water-efficient plant varieties for purchase from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 31 at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. The annual Spring Plant Sale will feature native and drought-tolerant plant species sold in container sizes ranging from 2 inches up to 5 gallons. In addition, Springs Preserve garden staff experts will be on hand to answer customer questions about how to care for their new plants. Preceding the public event, Springs Preserve members can take advantage of a special preview sale from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Admission to the plant sale in the Gardens Amphitheater is free.
