The 13th Annual Something Scottish celebration is planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Live performances by Desert Skye Pipes & Drums, the Las Vegas Highland Dance Association, Scottish Country Dancers, violinist Diana Romero and harpist Richard Brown are planned. The Las Vegas Fiber Arts Guild will demonstrate spinning and weaving, and artist Maggie Brown-Shoosmith will draw caricatures. Scottish food and a children’s corner are also planned. The Sunrise Library, 5400 E. Harris Ave., plans a Guitar Basics for Beginners class from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 21, Oct. 19 and Nov. 16. Players will learn tuning, simple chords and a song. The Las Vegas Improvisation Players plan a show at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the American Heritage Academy, 6126 S. Sandhill Road. The family-friendly comedy and music improv show takes suggestions from the audience and performs scenes, songs and poems. Tickets are $10 and available at the door, which opens at 6:40 p.m.
