This man is really happy he saved his barbecue from a fire — VIDEO

Firefighters responded to an apartment building fire Tuesday in Fresno, Calif., but a man who managed to save his ribs on the way out is stealing the spotlight.

"I thought about my ribs, like I didn't want to let my ribs burn and stuff because I take pride in what I do," Robert Wright told a news crew outside of the building. In an interview with a KMPH Fox26 photojournalist, Wright described the fire and rescuing his family, as well as the ribs.

Wright said he noticed the fire while he was barbecuing about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Once he got his children to safety, he ran back inside to save the ribs. In the interview, Wright holds up with ribs.

"I seen some fire just come all out the window man, the window busted out man," he said. "The only thing I think first man, make sure them ribs is right ... I'm going to enjoy this barbecue though man."

Wright said he and his family — as well as the ribs — escaped unharmed. A woman and her 6-year-old child were hospitalized with smoke inhalation.
