Three ex-champions among Hall of Fame nominees

Three former World Series of Poker champions head the list of 10 nominees to the Poker Hall of Fame.

The candidates will be vetted by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council, which will select the final list of candidates. The 15 living members of the Poker Hall of Fame and a 15-person media panel will vote on that list to select the 2009 Hall of Fame class.

The 2009 class, traditionally one or two persons, will be inducted during the 2009 World Series of Poker's main event final table in November.

The top 10 names nominated through voting by the public on the World Series of Poker's Web site include 1983 world poker champion Tom McEvoy, 1995 champion Dan Harrington and 1998 champion Scotty Nguyen.

Other names being considered by the committee this year are Tom Dwan, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Men Nguyen, Daniel Negreanu, Eric Seidel and Mike Sexton.
