Three generations of family live in Mountain Falls community

Linda Donah purchased a home in the Mountain Falls master-planned community in Pahrump last year to be close to her daughter and provide for her mother.
"We had been living in Pahrump for five years, but we really hadn't seen Mountain Falls. Then one day we came by and took a look at some models and we kept coming back and coming back to look at them. Our sales agent, Vicki Gardner, told us that we can come back anytime and look around, and we did," Donah said.
"The timing was right to buy a home. Vicki showed us a home that had just become available and we just liked the floor plan and the neighborhood. It has an oversized lot, the view is gorgeous, and from the kitchen you can look out and see Mount Charleston. The home is even more than what we were looking for," she said.
Built by William Lyon Homes, the single-story residence measures 1,600 square feet and features three bedrooms and two baths.
"The home has a nice large kitchen with a bar that overlooks into the living room and dining room, and the block wall fences that makes it nice and private. I like walking on the sidewalk to the neighborhood park. And you are right next to a beautiful golf course. It is everything that you need," Donah said. "I have nice neighbors and people seem to care. Plus it is so quiet.
"My mother is 93 years old and she is as sharp as a tack. She can't wait until the weather gets warmer because she loves being outside and the view."
Like other residents, Donah has access to the Mountain Falls residents' facility, which features a fitness center with club-quality exercise equipment and classes, an outdoor aquatic center with a family-style pool, interactive splash pad, a lap pool and spa, multipurpose room and a residents' lounge with card tables, pool tables and a big-screen television.
"My daughter lives in Mountain Falls, too. We have spent time at the residents' facility and the wonderful swimming pool area. It is just a beautiful facility and the next door restaurant has excellent food," Donah said.
"It feels like we are in our own little community. It is kind of like a hidden oasis and you don't see it unless you get off of Highway 160. I love it here."
William Lyon Homes offers the Bella Sera, Cascata Ancora and Tramonto neighborhoods, where single-story homes range from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet and are priced from $99,000. The sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when models open at noon.
Classic Homes' Paradiso neighborhood offers five single- and two-story floor plans with up to 4,300 square feet. Office hours at Paradiso vary.
To visit from Las Vegas, travel about 45 miles west on Highway 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch Road, turn right and follow the signs. For information, visit mountainfalls.com.
