Titus agrees to at least two debates with Heck

Game on.

Rep. Dina Titus has accepted at least two debates with her GOP challenger Joe Heck.

The freshman Democrat's congressional District 3 seat is being targeted for a Republican takeover, so the stakes are high in the race.

The district swung Titus' way in 2008, thanks to a Democratic Party registration drive that helped President Barack Obama win the White House.

Now, Titus is struggling to keep her job representing the swing district, which has been won by Republicans in the past.

Heck, a former state senator, has been goading Titus to debate him ever since the two easily won their June 8 primaries.

Titus' office said Wednesday she has accepted two debates and may do more, depending on her Washington schedule.

She said the two events scheduled are:

-- An Oct. 11 debate sponsored by Ner Tamid, a Reform synogogue in Henderson.

-- An Oct. 21 debate hosted byVegas PBS and moderated by "Nevada Week in Review" host Mitch Fox.
