Trails lead the way at Aliante

The Aliante master-planned community, located in North Las Vegas, features a trail system with 24 miles of lit walkways.

Residents use the system for exercise, recreation and as an alternative to driving short distances, according to Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises LLC, developer of Aliante.

"Residents of all ages enjoy the Aliante trail system on a daily basis," Naef said. "Not only do they come to the parks, but you can see them walking to and from the Aliante MarketPlace shopping center, just across Aliante Parkway. It's easily the most popular of all the amenities we have, as well as being one of the most visible."

Linking neighborhoods, parks, schools and shopping centers to one another, the trail system features fully paved paths with landscaping the whole way.

"Pedestrians create vibrancy and a friendly atmosphere for which there is no substitute," Naef said. "The meandering, landscaped paths make for a pleasant stroll or bicycle ride and they also soften the streetscapes for passing motorists."

Developed by North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb, Aliante encompasses more than 1,900 acres. Home builders include Astoria, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB, Lennar, Pardee and Pulte. Home prices range from the mid-$200,000s to the low $500,000s.

Proposed plans for Aliante include two elementary schools and a middle school, all of which would be built by the Clark County School District. The community's first school, the Theron H. and Naomi D. Goynes Elementary School, opened in August 2005. A new fire station was opened in April 2004 and the Aliante Library, located adjacent to the Nature Discovery Park, opened in May 2006.

Construction of the northern arc of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, made the master-planned community accessible.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and exit east. Make a right onto Sky Pointe Drive, a right onto Frontage Road, and then a left onto the Beltway. Head east to the Aliante Parkway exit, then go south.
