Trudi’s romance quickie: ‘Mysteria Lane’

“Mysteria Lane” by MaryJanice Davidson, Susan Grant, Gena Showalter and P.C. Cast, is a collection of four stories that take place in a fictional town full of the paranormal.
The first story in the book, “Disdaining Trouble,” reads like an excerpt from a novel. The story is about triplets with special powers that are stronger when all three combined their efforts. One day while playing a prank on the mailman, one of the triplets falls into the Wishing Well about the time their mother wishes they would just grow up. After a several minutes, the triplet returns grown up and armed to the teeth looking like a warrior goddess. This story just seemed unfinished to me and I almost put the book down.
  Boy, am I glad I didn’t!
The second story, “The Nanny from Hell,” is about a demon, known as the human Shay d’Mon, sent to Mysteria to kill the child of an ex-demon turned human. She must ingratiate herself into the household and become responsible for the baby in order to have access for murder. On her way into town, Shay swerves to miss a pack of werewolves and lands in the Wishing Well in the center of town. After being pulled out by demon hunter, Quel Laredo, she is mystified to find she is without powers and being pursued by the demon hunter.
“A Tawdry Affair” is the third story. It is about a witch, Glory, who uses a magic pen to write her crush, Falon, into a dangerous situation to gain her revenge. Because Falon does not trust witches, he denies the attraction he feels for Glory. Unfortunately, Glory thinks Falon doesn’t even know she exists. This story really has an unexpected twist.
The final story in the book is “It’s in His Kiss.” A witch named Summer returns to her hometown, Mysteria. She takes over her sister’s teaching position at the high school. Her magic is kind of messed up, opposite magic she calls it.  Because of this, she tries to be in control of every aspect of her life. With the help of a vampire named Colin, she overcomes her mishap magic and finds the love of her life is not what she expected or planned for.
  Enjoy!
