Trudi’s romance quickie: ‘Secrets of the Knight’
Set in the 1400s, Julia Latham’s “Secrets of the Knight” is about Diana Winslow, the first female Bladesman of the League, a secret organization that helps those who can’t help themselves.
While on her first assignment, Diana kills the Viscount Bannaster to avoid rape at his hands. When his brother, Thomas, allows her to escape and takes the blame for his brother’s murder, Diana believes she will never again set eyes on Thomas, the new Viscount Bannaster — after all he thinks her a servant.
Six years later, with no assignment from the League since the debacle at Castle Bannaster, Diana believes she has been forgotten. News is sent that the Viscount Bannaster is coming to court Diana’s sister Cicely for marriage, as ordered by the king. Fearing discovery in the murder, Diana kidnaps Thomas before thinking through a solid plan. Upon receiving an assignment from the League to investigate the new Viscount, Diana is in desperate need of a solution.
When the Viscount escapes from her dungeon, but does not denounce her as his kidnapper, Diana is at a lost as to his intentions. She still has her assignment and the Viscount seems to only want her in his bed as payment for his kidnapping.
This story is full of suspense and hilarity, a perfect mix and an extremely fast read. Enjoy!
