Turnout slight so far for municipal elections

Voters are trickling in to today’s municipal primary elections, according to the Clark County Election Department, which is tracking turnout in the five cities holding votes today. As of 10:30 a.m., a total of 3,545 people had voted in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City and Mesquite.

The slight Election Day turnout comes after 22,942 people voted early in the five municipalities’ elections. Officials had expected low turnout for the odd-year elections that generally attract little voter interest. The elections include open-seat mayoral contests in North Las Vegas and Henderson.

Polls are open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Here’s the breakdown by city:

• Boulder City: 282 voters so far today, 2,347 early votes.

• Henderson: 1,286 voters today, 8,532 early votes.

• Las Vegas: 1,209 voters today, 5,775 early votes.

• Mesquite: 141 voters today, 1,519 early votes.

• North Las Vegas: 627 voters today, 4,769 early votes.
