TV: ‘CSI’ creator’s words to live by

From the National Association of Broadcasters show at the Las Vegas Convention Center …
Mirage tram driver-turned-“CSI” creator Anthony Zuiker may be the greatest motivational speaker ever. And not just because of his killer impression of “CSI: Miami’s” David Caruso taking off his sunglasses.
Before telling broadcasters his ideas on where TV is and should be going, Zuiker gave them all a reason to spend some time on the couch.
Early in their marriage, Zuiker’s then-pregnant wife wanted him to get some exercise. “So I went to step out to go play basketball. And she said, ‘Babe!’ And I said, ‘What?’ And she said, ‘Come watch this new show.’ I’m like, ‘What show is that?’ She said, ‘“New Detectives.”’
“Now if I walk out that door and play basketball, I’m not here today. So I went back and sat down and watched the show that would change my life.”
The series focused on forensic investigators, and it so inspired Zuiker that it soon led to the entire “CSI” empire.
See that, kids? Exercise never pays.
