TV PRESS TOUR: Heigl staying, Holmes guesting
Katherine Heigl isn’t leaving ABC, but Katie Holmes is joining the network for a brief “Dawson’s Creek” reunion.
Emmy winner Heigl has been rumored to be on the way out of “Grey’s Anatomy” after not submitting her name for consideration this year because, she said, “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.” Oddly, that seemed to have ruffled some feathers on her show. (It’s also been rumored that she wants out of her contract to focus on her movie career. “28 Dresses,” maybe?)
But while recent reports suggest Heigl’s Izzie may not be back for long if at all, ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson says they’re not true. “She’s absolutely staying with the show,” he told reporters this morning. “There’s an unbelievable story line for her this year which is really central to everything that’s going to go on this season. We’re really excited about that.”
Holmes, meanwhile, will guest star on an episode of “Eli Stone,” which was co-created by her former “Dawson’s Creek” boss Greg Berlanti.
“I was at the table read” of the script, McPherson said. “She was fabulous. It’s a great role for her. There’s actually some singing and dancing that she does, and she’s exquisite.”
