Two football players suspended

UNLV suspended safety Mike Clausen and wide receiver Michael Johnson for spring football practices for breaking team rules. No specifics were provided, and a UNLV news release said there would be no additional comment.

Both players will be seniors next season.

Clausen switched from quarterback to safety early last season, and he started four times in the secondary. He made 31 tackles, intercepted a pass and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Johnson, who started 11 games, led UNLV with 51 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns.

The spring session is Feb. 28 to April 2.
