Two more Heller bills picked up in House

Two more pieces of legislation orphaned by Dean Heller when he moved from the U.S. House to become a senator were claimed by another Nevada lawmaker today.
Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., was given the green light by House leaders to take over H.R. 673, the Motorsports Fairness and Permanency Act.
The Las Vegas Motor Speedway had favored the bill, which would make permanent a seven-year depreciation for motorsports complexes.
Berkley also took over H.R. 427, which provides a five-year recovery period for computer-based gaming machines.
Both bills are before the House Ways and Means Committee, on which Berkley sits, and where Heller was a member before he was appointed to the Senate.
On Tuesday, Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., took over Heller's bill to block development of a gravel quarry at Sloan Hills outside Henderson.
