Undetermined quarterback in Saturday’s game puts UNLV in difficult position
UNLV is preparing to face two quarterbacks Saturday — Jordan Wynn or Terrance Cain — when the Rebels play at No. 20 Utah.
Wynn is listed as day to day with a sprained thumb on his throwing hand. Cain entered last football season as the starter before Wynn won the job at midseason.
"We absolutely are preparing for both because they're different," Rebels coach Bobby Hauck said. "They're a different team when Cain's in the game."
Cain is more athletic and Wynn a more traditional dropback quarterback.
Cain quarterbacked the Utes to a 35-15 victory over UNLV last season. He completed 17 of 24 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 22 yards and a TD on eight carries.
Not knowing who will start has put UNLV in a difficult situation.
"It's more preparation, so it's less time on their base offense with Wynn in the game," Hauck said. "But we have to do it. We really don't have any choice."
