UNLV football picked to finish seventh in Mountain West

UNLV was picked seventh in the eight-team Mountain West Conference today at Red Rock Resort.

The Rebels, who went 2-11 last season, received 77 points in voting by the media. Only New Mexico, which went 1-11, was picked lower, receiving 39 points.

Senior wide receiver Phillip Payne was the Rebels' lone representative on the preseason all-conference team.

Boise State, which joins the league from the Western Athletic Conference, was picked to win the Mountain West, receiving 28 first-place votes and 236 points. Defending champion Texas Christian, which next season will play in the Big East Conference, received the other three first-place votes and totaled 208 points.
