Vegas boy goes to the Oscars

Thanks to the generosity of the Los Angeles bureau of the Associated Press, my lovely wife and I were invited to attend this year's Oscars in Hollywood.

While it was a spectacular party with the stars and all, I didn't see anything at the Oscars that from an event and party standpoint isn't replicated in Las Vegas on any given weekend.

Maybe I'm a homer for Vegas or perhaps just a bit jaded after 30 years of parties and events here. But that's how I saw it.

From a star-power and fashion perspective, however, it's hard to beat the Oscars. Every 10th person in the place seemed recognizable and very accessible.  And, yes, your instincts are correct: The leading men seemed tiny; the leading women seemed tall; and, Gary Busey is a jackass.
