‘Viking in Love’ by Sandra Hill full of laughs
Hilarious!
From the beginning, Sandra Hill's "Viking in Love" hits the funny bone.
Five Viking sibling princesses, Breanne, Vana, Tyra, Ingrith and Drifa, start the story by killing one sister's abusive husband. Then to dispose of the body, they drop the corpse right in the privy. Perfect resting place for a piece of crap. But what a problem, explaining the disappearance of an earl.
Now on the run from a vengeful king who is trying to prosecute them without even knowing what happened, they take refuge with a distant relative of Tyra's husband, Caedmon of Larkspur. Caedmon, having just returned from nine months of service to the king, is totally at a loss as to how to get rid of these Viking princesses who have taken over his holding. He admits that things are in better shape because of their presence and that his many children are clean and well cared for, but he is afraid that the villagers and his children will expect things to remain the same after the women are gone. There is no way a lodge full of men will ever retain the pristine and homey atmosphere.
Breanne has only told Caedmon that they are traveling through and stopped to visit. However, Caedmon is suspicious and soon learns the real reason the sisters have arrived at his door. He uses this to blackmail Breanne, only offering refuge if she will become his mistress for 10 days. He doesn't want another wife after having two terrible marriages and he doesn't want anymore children, already having 10 or 11 (some of which aren't even his).
The sisters soon find themselves in a world of trouble when King Edgar comes looking for Vana. Caedmon and Breanne tell the king they are betrothed, thus explaining the sisters' visit. But then Breanne's father, King Thorvald of Stoneheim, appears, and as we all know, the more lies we tell, the more it takes to cover up the first ones.
Lies, love and laughs make this romance a fun yet suspenseful read. "Viking in Love" takes readers on an entertaining journey that will at times leave them laughing out loud.
