Viva Las Vegas: Wayne headed to Tropicana

Credit Tropicana officials and Chairman Alex Yemenidjian for taking their best shot at reviving the casino resort by bringing in Las Vegas legend Wayne Newton.

Newton could be the person to give the Tropicana a little character again. If it’s marketed right, and Newton’s chops hold up, it could surprise a lot of people.

The contracts were signed earlier this week with help behind the scenes from the ubiquitous Jack Wishna. (Wishna helped carve out the $250 million deal for Newton at the Stardust.)
