Vote the bums out, or keep ’em in; either way you have to register

Saturday is the deadline to register to vote or update voter registration without having to appear in person at a Clark County Election Department office.

That means Election Department officials will make one final push to make it as convenient as possible for would-be voters to get registration in order.

They will be at several shopping malls throughout the Las Vegas Valley including: Las Vegas Outlet Center, 7400 Las Vegas Blvd. South; Boulevard Mall, 3528 S. Maryland Parkway; Galleria Mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road; and Meadows Mall, 4300 Meadows Lane. Also on Saturday, Election Department ofices at the CLark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway and the Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, North Las Vegas, will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Residents with a valid Nevada driver's license can also register online by going to www.accessclarkcounty.com/elections and selecting "register to vote." The online option is only available for new registrations, not people seeking to update information on their existing registration.

After Saturday, people who wish to register and vote in the upcoming general election need to register in person at either of the two Election Department offices. The last day to register is Oct. 12. For more information call 455-8683.
