Voting under way for Best Of Summerlin

For the eighth year, residents and fans of Summerlin are sharing their opinions about what they love most about the community through the community’s Best of Summerlin campaign. This year, hundreds of nominations were received during August with voting now under way. Winners of the 2013 Best of Summerlin recognition campaign will be announced at Summerlin Art Festival on Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m, at Summerlin Centre Community Park.

According to Danielle Bisterfeldt, director of marketing for Summerlin, the annual competition is designed to acknowledge and celebrate the amenities that add to the robust Summerlin lifestyle and contribute to the community’s hallmark quality of life.

“The Best of Summerlin is a fun and interactive way to let residents and the general public share what they like best about Summerlin,” Bisterfeldt said. “The Best of Summerlin is a natural evolution for the community, which has delivered on its promise of a quality lifestyle for more than 23 years.”

Summerlin’s 22,500 acres span the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley and include more than 150 parks, more than 150 miles of running/jogging/ and cycling trails and offers a variety of restaurants and retail shops, some of which made it to the list of finalists.

Voting is now open online at summerlin.com for nominees in 12 different categories: best park, best school spirit, best swimming pool, best place to work out, best family friendly restaurant, best happy hour, best restaurant for a celebration, best locally owned restaurant or eatery, best doctor, best golf course, best community event and best small retail business.

For the first time the finalists will be featured on Summerlin’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages via a photo campaign called The Adventures of Summerlin Sam. The community’s beloved jackrabbit mascot will visit each finalist so voters can get a glimpse of all 25 locations. Voting runs through Oct. 12 and is open to all valley residents at summerlin.com. Winners will be announced the morning of Oct. 13 at the Summerlin Art Festival in Summerlin Centre Community Park.
