“Weinergate” woman back on Twitter
June 9, 2011 - 1:52 pm
Lisa Weiss, the Las Vegas blackjack dealer who engaged in steamy online conversations with New York congressman Anthony Weiner, is back on the Internet today after being gone while the scandal exploded.
"wow! u sure find out who your real friends are when you ae having a personal meltdown," Weiss said on Twitter via her @liberallisa account.
Weiss has been in the media crosshairs since coming forward to the online gossip site Radaronline.com as one of the women who had exchanged racy messages with Weiner, whose 12-year career as a Democratic member of the U.S. House is hanging by a thread.
Weiner admitted on Monday he had sent a underwear-clad crotch photo of himself to a Twitter follower after lying about it to reporters, constituents and his wife since it surfaced over the Memorial Day weekend.
Further, Weiner confessed to having sexually provocative conversations with a half dozen women over a period of years. Some of them appeared game to the talk while others have said they were creeped out.
Weiner has said he does not plan to resign, although a growing number of colleagues have said he should leave Congress.
Excepts of Weiner's sexytalk with Weiss have appeared on RadarOnline.com, and other sites. Weiss also has spoken with celebrity website TMZ.com and been interviewed on TV by Inside Edition.
She told TMZ.com she was "humiliated" and felt guilty. It also was disclosed she wrote a note of apology to Weiner's wife.
In Las Vegas, the windows on the front door of her listed address were covered with sheets of white paper to discourage anyone wanting to peek inside.
A handwritten sign taped to the door said "NO TRESPASSING. NO REPORTERS. NO INTERVIEWS. NO MEDIA,"followed by a threat to prosecute "anyone not leaving this property."
Weiss tweeted online with some regularity, which is how she came to follow Weiner's postings and engage in political conversation that turned personal at times. She had been silent since June 3.
On her Facebook page, Weiss described herself as a big fan of liberal humorist/commentators Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher.
After tweeting today that she was having a "personal meltdown," Weiss's next message was to Maher.
"@billmaher i'm the chick in vegas...maybe now you'll follow me! huge fan!"
