What do Democrats fear — the truth?

If the health care "reform" bill crafted by Sen. Harry Reid and supported by Democrats is such a once in a lifetime, country changing good deal, why won't they meet with the public and explain it?

Sen. Reid will hold a meeting tonight (which is good baby step) but it is an "invitation only" affair, which means it will be a hand-picked, friendly little echo chamber.

His counterpart, Sen. John Ensign, put this press release out about two Nevada town hall meetings in which as much of the public -- pro and con -- as can squeeze in the room is invited.

That's how you do it.

It is an outrage that Democrats craft a plan in the dead of night, negotiate it in secret, and then hold what amounts to little more than a campaign rally dressed up like a town hall meeting. If Sen. Reid has any juice left with which to honestly interact with Nevadans, I hope he will take Ensign's lead. In fact, hold 10 town hall meetings with no stacked-deck audience. In the meanwhile, I hope tonight he will explain in detail the sweet heart deals he gave other states, but not Nevada. The "Cornhusker kickback" would be of particular interest.

Here's Ensign's press release. It shames Reid and the rest of the Nevada Democratic delegation.
