While Obama frets, real crime takes place on the border he refuses to secure
While President Barack Obama and East Coast liberals wet their collective pants over the state of Arizona passing a tough law designed to help law enforcement actually enforce federal immigration laws, Cochise County sheriff deputies in the dark of night Thursday apprehended 67 illegal immigrants in southeastern Arizona.
Were the civil rights of any legal citizen violated? Did the deputies use racial profiling to make the arrest?
The answer is no. The 67 human beings were crammed into one U-Haul truck. When the truck was stopped because of erratic driving 20 miles north of the Mexican border, the driver and the front-seat passenger fled into the desert. Where they are now, or what crimes they might be committing against Americans and Mexicans at this moment is unknown.
What we do know is that this story illustrates how out of touch the illegal alien debate has become in America. While the president and others fret over theoretical civil rights abuses, real abuse takes place against American citizens every day along the border.
You'd think the president would care enough about Americans to do something about a federal border security that daily allows criminals to traffic in humans and drugs.
Take a look at this column in which the writer asks:
"Mr. President, are you listening?"
The answer is "no".
