White House confirms Obama to visit Vegas for Reid

A White House official confirmed Thursday that President Barack Obama is returning to Las Vegas in early July to help U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's re-election campaign.

The official said the visit will be part of a domestic tour Obama will be making to attend both official and political events.

In Las Vegas, the stop will be all about Obama showing how much he needs Reid as Senate majority leader to get his Democratic agenda passed.

"It will be a political event on behalf of the Majority Leader Reid," said the official, who didn't offer up any more details of the visit.

As reported in the Las Vegas Review-Journal earlier this week, Obama's visit will be the second time this year he's come to help boost Reid's changes in November.

First Lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton also recently visited Las Vegas to promote Reid, who isn't as popular at home as he is among his Washington, D.C. pals.
