Will higher prices put the Silver back into Silver State?

While most of this nation of speculators drools as gold prices climb toward $1,400 per ounce, some Nevada miners are focusing on the remarkable rise in the value of silver. It climbed to $32.30 an ounce this week and for some reason attracted almost no attention from the state’s business press.

In an interesting MarketWatch article, Myra P. Saefong puts precious metal investment into an international perspective.

But the bottom line closer to home is that you can expect more speculation in silver claims, a number of which have been held by small-scale prospectors and speculators who have been pushed out of staking gold claims by the national and international corporations that rule that industry in low-tax Nevada.
