Woman works, lives, plays in Mountain Falls golf community

Southern Nevadan Debbie Davis purchased a new, single-story home in the golf course community of Mountain Falls, which is located in Pahrump about 45 miles west of Las Vegas. She said it is a place where she can literally live, work and play as a resident and a sales associate for William Lyon Homes.

"I moved to Mountain Falls from Las Vegas just over a year ago. I was working for William Lyon and I thought that it was a sound investment in a nice, pretty community. I couldn't have bought anything in this type of golf course community in Las Vegas for that price," Davis said.

"I love living here. I know all of my neighbors. When people come and look at the models, I can honestly say that this is a great place to live, that I am selling good homes, and that William Lyon Homes responds to customers' needs."

Davis chose a home in the single-story Entrata neighborhood, where only one home remains: a 1,571-square-foot residence on an oversized lot with three bedrooms, two baths and numerous upgrades.

She works in the sales offices of the builder's Bella Sera, Cascata Ancora and Tramonto neighborhoods, where homes range from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet. They are priced from the mid-$100,000s.

"All William Lyon homes at Mountain Falls are single-story with good-sized yards and located in a Tuscany-like setting. ..." Davis said.

"A lot of people who move here from other places do so because they like the climate or want to get out of the hustle and bustle of big cities. This is a slower pace than Las Vegas and it's less expensive, so it's easier on the pocketbook. But yet we're close enough to Las Vegas where you can still enjoy all of the benefits of a big city."

Davis said she enjoys the access to resort-style amenities located within the community.

"You are not just buying a house at Mountain Falls, you are also buying a lifestyle because of the way the community is designed," she said. "There are 360-degree views of mountains, walking trails, people riding bicycles. Each neighborhood has at least one park area with picnic tables and park benches. It's a nice area for relaxing and meeting your neighbors."

Residents also have access to a recreational facility with a exercise room, outdoor aquatic center with swimming pools and a spa and a billiards and cards room with a big-screen TV. Many activities are held in the center.

Davis said she also enjoys playing the Mountain Falls Golf Club's 18-hole, par-72 public course.

In addition to daily greens fees, annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf passes are available to residents and nonresidents and include unlimited play and golf cart use.

She said she also frequents the Mountain Falls Grill Room, which overlooks the course and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to both residents and nonresidents.

William Lyon Homes, Mountain Falls' master-plan developer, has sales offices and models open at its Bella Sera, Cascata Ancora and Tramonto neighborhoods from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Monday, when they open at noon.

The community has two additional builders. Classic Homes' Paradiso neighborhood features five single- and two-story floor plans measuring as large as 4,300 square feet. Desert Wind Homes' Tivoli neighborhood offers homes that measure from 1,938 to 2,097 square feet. Sales office hours at Paradiso and Tivoli vary.

To visit from Las Vegas, travel about 45 miles west on State Route 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch Road, turn right and follow the signs.
