WSOP fans show support for their favorite players
World Series of Poker fans began lining up early this morning to gain a seat inside the Rio’s Penn & Teller Theater for the Main Event’s final table.
Supporters of the players showed their loyalties in different ways.
Fans of Great Britain’s Sam Holden wore brown two-tone Afro wigs — similar to the hairstyle of the 22-year-old poker player who enters play today in 9th place.
With seven countries represented at the final table, the fan base resembled the Olympics or the World Cup.
Here’s a rundown of other fans spotted in line:
Badih Bounahra’s supporters wore black shirts emblazoned with the flag of Belize.
Several of Pius Heinz’s supporters wore the German flag as capes in support of their countryman
Ireland’s Eoghan O’Dea’s fans wore green shirts sponsored by PaddyPoker.com.
American Ben Lamb’s fans were also in green shirts, but sponsored by PokerTracker.com. The shirts featured a caricature of a poker-playing sheep.
Meanwhile, supporters of American Matt Giannetti’s wore simple dark shirts with the website Hazards on the front.
Also, Sasquatch, the mascot of World Series of Poker sponsor Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, patrolled the theater’s hallways, posing for photos with fans.
