WSOP Main Event reaches 18

The field at the World Series of Poker’s Main Event has been reduced to two tables of nine players each.

With the eliminations of Gionni Demers of New Jersey in 20th place and Aleksandr Mozhnyakov of Russia in 19th, the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em World Championship is two steps closer to determining its final table of nine who will return to the Rio in November.

Anton Makiievskyi of the Ukraine is the chip leader with 29.775 million in tournament chips. Ireland’s Eoghan O'Dea is second with 21.535 million. Tulsa gambler Ben Lamb is third with 19.190 million, followed by South Africa’s Konstantinos Mamaliadis in fourth with 16.450.

Demers and Mozhnyakov each earned $302,005.
