YOUR WEEKEND: Don flip-flops, get a smoothie

Summer is around the corner, and with it comes fun footwear, namely flip-flops.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations across the valley will celebrate the third annual National Flip Flop Day and the first official day of summer on June 19 by giving away free, 24-ounce Jetty Punch smoothies to the first 500 patrons who are wearing flip-flops at each location.

As part of the event, Tropical Smoothie Cafe also will announce a national charity partnership with Camp Sunshine. The partnership will work together on National Flip Flop Day festivities to help raise money to send eligible families to camp.

Camp Sunshine is located along the shores of Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine, and offers respite and support for children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families. The program is year-round and free of charge to all families, including 24-hour, onsite medical and psychological support.
