YOUR WEEKEND: Donate items for dogs and catch a movie

"Hotel for Dogs" opens in theaters on Jan. 16, and Regal Entertainment Group's UA Rainbow Promenade 10, 2321 N. Rainbow Blvd., will celebrate the film, based on a children's book by Lois Duncan, with children's activities, face painting, games and prizes from 1 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 17 and Jan. 24.

The theater also is participating in a donation drive through Jan. 25, collecting clothes and games for Goodwill and dog food, leashes, collars and blankets for Vegas K9 Rescue. All who donate to the charity drive will be entered into a drawing to win a "Hotel for Dogs" prize pack for each donation made.

In the film, starring starring Don Cheadle, Emma Roberts and Lisa Kudrow, two mischievous orphans attempt to hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. For showtimes, call 221-2283 or visit www.regmovies.com. For more information about the "Hotel for Dogs" activities, call 636-2869.
