YOUR WEEKEND: Get a head start on holiday shopping and check out a new Harley

Great Craft Festival

This weekend get a head start on your Christmas and holiday shopping at the Great Craft Festival, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 8, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 9. The show has been coming to Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North, since 1983, and always has some good buys.

Adult admission is $8, seniors cost $7 to get in the doors and people ages 17 and under are free. Parking in the Cashman lot is $3. There is a $2 discount coupon available on the event Web site, www.stevepowers.com.

There are many different types of crafts to browse, including homemade food items, jewelry and Christmas decorations. Aside from the goods, the food at the event is usually sub par and expensive, so eat before you go or stop by a downtown eatery after you’re finished shopping.

Harley-Davidson Grand Opening

For those looking to get hog wild this weekend, check out Red Rock Harley-Davidson’s grand opening celebration. The motorcycle legend just moved into a 104,000 square foot location at 2260 S. Rainbow Blvd. and is partying in honor of its largest Nevada showroom.

Today, Nov. 7, the store is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature Harley demonstrations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and live bands playing from 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 8 brings 12 hours of Harley fun, with the shop open from 9 a.m.to 9 p.m. There is a poker tournament on Nov. 8 to benefit juvenile diabetes from 3 to 8 p.m. and a cigar lounge from 5 to 8 p.m. A fashion show takes center stage from noon to 1 p.m., and of course, motorcycle demonstrations will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9 will feature bike demonstrations at the same time as the other two days, and the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
