YOUR WEEKEND: Green Valley Library to celebrate grand opening

A grand opening celebration for the the Green Valley Library will be held at 11:30 a.m. on May 2 at 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The library will open directly after the ceremony, which will be held from noon to 5 p.m. There will be live old-style blues music from John Earl and the Boogieman Band after the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Robert Massi of Robert A. Massi & Associates will present Sink or Swim, a discussion on how to survive in the new economy, at 2 p.m. Computer classes for adults and story time for children will begin at 3 p.m.

Tours of the renovated facility, which was closed for four months after the Henderson Library District acquired the building from the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, will be available throughout the day. The event is free and open to the public.
