YOUR WEEKEND: iQ Academy Nevada to host open house

iQ Academy Nevada, a tuition-free online middle and high school for students in grades seven through 12, invites families to learn more about the school’s open enrollment process and the opportunities available through online education. The school is enrolling for the 2009 – 10 year.

Courses are conducted online using a laptop provided by the school, and students also participate in one half-day, face-to-face classroom session with core subject teachers each week in Las Vegas.

On Saturday, Aug.15, iQ Academy will host open houses from 10 a.m. to noon at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., and from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Red Rock Lanes, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd.

Teachers and students from iQ Academy will host the open houses, allowing parents and prospective students to ask questions and learn more about the virtual school. The parents of enrolled students also will be in attendance to answer questions. Those interested will be able to see a demonstration of how the school operates and what a virtual classroom looks like.

Enrollment forms will be available at the open houses, as well as online at www.iQAcademyNV.com. For more information, call 1-877-994-4768.
