YOUR WEEKEND: Meet Mary Queen of Scots at Celtic Gathering

The Las Vegas Celtic Gathering and Highland Games will be this weekend, April 18 and 19 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road. The event is planned for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. those two days.

One of the characters making an appearance is Mary Queen of Scots. I find it fascinating that the real figure from history was considered a beauty with a kind heart but was not savvy enough to figure out that who you married resulted alliances and political clout. But then, she was made queen when she was 6 days old. That’s right — 6 days. So this woman, who once ruled over four countries, had a fate that led to… Loch Leven Castle and… Oh, heck, just go see the Mary Queen of Scots at the Celtic Gathering to find out for yourself.

General admission is $10, $8 for students and military personnel, and $5 for children 5-12. Children younger than 5 are free.
