YOUR WEEKEND: Say bye-bye to bad hair days

Elements Salon & Wellness Spa, 6461 N. Durango Drive, will double-dip into philanthropy Saturday, Oct. 4, when it hosts a haircutting marathon for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

“We know that during tough economic times, sometimes our pets that need us the most are overlooked. Some homeowners have even left behind their pets when their home went into foreclosure,” said salon owner Doina Stanciu. “The NSPCA, being a no-kill animal shelter, can only house so many animals with their limited space and resources. We hope to help and to have the community help these animals that love us unconditionally.”

So, stop by between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to lend a hand. All donations will be accepted for the haircuts, but patrons will be on their own for styling, as the salon hopes to squeeze in as many people as possible. Men, women and children will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds will benefit the NSPCA.
