YOUR WEEKEND: Shadow Rock Park expansion opens on Saturday

Residents living in Sunrise Mountain officially will have a new place to play come March 21. That's when Shadow Rock Park  opens its expansion at 2650 Los Feliz St., northwest of Carey Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard.

The opening festivities for Shadow Rock Park will begin with a dedication at 10 a.m. by Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins. Following the dedication, Collins will throw out the first pitch in an all-day softball tournament featuring the 15 teams of the Sunrise Girls Softball League. The festivities also will include light refreshments and carnival booths with games. The dedication event and softball games are free and open to the public.

The park was built on the foothill of Sunrise Mountain and overlooks much of the valley. Visitors may enjoy a spectacular view of the city and Nellis Air Force Base.
