YOUR WEEKEND: What to do on Halloween

Boulder City
In Boulder City, make sure to swing by Kenny and Teresa Pope's awesomely decorated yard at the corner of Fifth Street and Avenue I. The décor features a scary-looking, life-size butler named Edmund who speaks to people who walk past him, along with a gigantic black widow spider perched on the rooftop and plenty of ghosts and goblins everywhere.

Southeast
Bring your little ghoul or goblin to Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 for the 18th annual Safe Street Halloween Festival. There will be trick-or-treating, costume contests and a pumpkin patch. For more information, visit www.safestreetlv.com. Free.

The Hard Rock Café Las Vegas, Metropolitan Police Department, the National Guard,  KKJJ 100.5 Jack FM and Saturn of West Sahara and Henderson have teamed up to host the second annual Trunk-or-Treat, a safe Halloween trick-or-treating event from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Hard Rock Café Parking Lot, 4475 Paradise Road. The Halloween festivities provide children and families a safe environment for trick-or-treating out of Police trunks filled with candy. Families will be able to enjoy trick-or-treating, costume contests, music, decorations and a safe Halloween experience. Admission is free.
 
Centennial
The Providence master-planned community will host its first Halloween event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 in Promenade Park, corner of Egan Crest Drive and Shaumber Road. For more information, call 948-4070. Free.

Henderson
Galleria at Sunset mall
Put on your scariest costume and head to the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road, for trick-or-treating at mall stores from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. There also will be a costume contest, pumpkin patch and more. Free. www.galleriaatsunset.com.

Lake Las Vegas
MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas will celebrate Halloween from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 with trick-or-treating and scary movies. Watch “Ghostbusters” at 5:30, followed by “Poltergeist” at 7:30 p.m. Free. www.montelagovillage.com/index.htm.

The District at Green Valley Ranch
The District at Green Valley Ranch’s third annual GhostWalk and Carnival of Horrors is back from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Kids can dress in costume and trick-or-treat in The District’s shops and restaurants. There will be a disc jockey, Carousel of Doom ride and sideshow characters. Henderson Senior Center
Stop by the Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas Ave., to enjoy Halloween desserts, punch and raffle prizes. Wear a costume and compete for prizes in three categories: silliest, most patriotic and most unique. Event starts at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 31. Free. 267-4150.

North Las Vegas
Adults, come dressed as a comic book character hero or villain and duke it out for cash costume prizes at the Heroes and Villains Halloween party at 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Oct. 31 at South Padre inside Texas Station. Drink specials. No masks, full face paint or weapons. $5 cover charge, ladies get first drink free.
