• A California man arrested in Las Vegas has pleaded guilty to killing his 5-year-old son after a family trip to Disneyland. Investigators have refused to say how the boy was killed.
• A body found in Lake Tahoe is believed to be a missing UNR football player. Marc Ma went missing last year while paddle boarding with teammates.
• Officials say a 78-year-old homeless man admitted robbing a Reno bank with a steak knife so he could return to prison instead of spending his last years out in the cold. Tommy Ray McAdoo faces 25 years or more behind bars.

Las Vegas morning update for Tuesday, August 1st

1. North Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Aliante master-planned community. Police say someone in a white pickup truck shot at the victim in the road after an altercation. The man shot was in critical condition and later died at University Medical Center. No arrests have been made.

2. Las Vegas City Council is considering a measure to let adult sex stores expand in downtown Las Vegas. The new measure would allow adult emporiums that draw at least 35 percent of revenue from books, magazines, sexual novelties, photos and videos to expand or alter stores. Councilman Bob Coffin says he believes the measure will help improve the area.
3. The Killers played a pop-up show on the Las Vegas Strip last night that aired on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Fans lined up early to catch the 10-song set outside of Caesars Palace, parts of which aired on Monday’s late night show.

• A man is dead after apparently jumping from the third floor of Fashion Show Mall. It happened just before noon near the Kona Grill. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
• A baby apparently drowned in the central Las Vegas valley. Police are investigating the death of 10-month-old Anthony Johnson. No arrests have been made.
• Two men stabbed each other in a fight over a lighter, police say. Bryan Kirk Sharp accused a man of stealing his lighter before stabbing him in the leg and chest, police say. It allegedly happened at Bob Baskin Park. Sharp is charged with attempted murder.
• Finally, a naked passenger delayed a Spirit flight in Las Vegas. Officials say a passenger took off his clothes and approached a flight attendant on a plane bound for Oakland. The passenger was removed for observation.

1. Even after pleading guilty to lewdness with his patients, a North Las Vegas doctor could still practice medicine without restrictions. Dr. Jorge Burgos is looking at three years probation and seven days behind bars.

2. The suspect tied to the 13th officer-involved shooting this year was hit 19 times. Police say a total of 26 shots were fired during the shootout on Monday. One other person was hit in the arm by an officer’s round during the cross fire. Both suspects are in stable condition and were booked into the county jail.

3. Officials say a sex trafficking ring busted in Southern California on Thursday has ties to Sin City. Los Angeles County deputies found 13 victims. Three suspects are facing a total of 54 charges including sex trafficking and pimping.
