A 50-year-old Long Beach, Calif., resident is suing Caesars Entertainment after allegedly contracting Legionnaires’ disease while staying at the Rio hotel in Las Vegas. Christopher Moncado was hospitalized six months ago.
He sent Caesars, which owns the Rio, his medical records and hospital bills. His attorney says he has not received a response.
There have been 7 confirmed cases and 28 suspected cases of the disease.
The investigation is still ongoing as the health district continues to receive intermittent reports of infection from hotel guests.

Officials say there were three to five dogs per cage and that the cages were stacked inside the truck. The dogs will be medically evaluated and groomed to help detect any potential problems. The dogs are on an indefinite hold by animal control. Shelter officials cannot determine whether or when the dogs will be made available for adoption.

The Love Store, a retailer whose products include vibrators and lingerie, will open a new location this week next to the downtown healing garden dedicated to the Las Vegas shooting. The store, located near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Third Street, will staff 30 employees, Wheeler said. This is the fifth Love Store, with three around the valley and one in Victorville, California. Officials approved the architectural plans for the store in July, according to city records. Love Store received a certificate of occupancy on Oct. 11. Some who work in the arts district disagree with having a store that sells sex-related items next to a memorial for shooting victims. Las Vegas Valley artist Nancy Good, who’s held exhibits in the arts district, said the combination will turn into a punchline.

It’s officially the holidays at Bellagio! The Conservatory and Botanical Gardens switched to a festive holiday display. There are 34,000 flowers on display, 28,000 of which are poinsettias. The center of the display is a 42-foot Christmas tree with 2,500 ornaments and 7,000 LED lights. New this year is an large ice queen. 6 large polar bears surround the display, covered in carnations and hydrangeas There’s even a train running through the display with a camera so you can see its route. It took 125 people to assemble the whole display. The holiday display will be open through January 6.

Viewers have until Dec. 17 to see crosses and mementos before they become part of the Clark County Museum’s permanent collection. Cataloging the thousands of items could take more than a year. Each item gets a detailed description and is photographed from several angles. Items will be packaged and preserved in materials designed for long-term storage.
