A 50-year-old Long Beach, Calif., resident is suing Caesars Entertainment after allegedly contracting Legionnaires’ disease while staying at the Rio hotel in Las Vegas. Christopher Moncado was hospitalized six months ago.
He sent Caesars, which owns the Rio, his medical records and hospital bills. His attorney says he has not received a response.
There have been 7 confirmed cases and 28 suspected cases of the disease.
The investigation is still ongoing as the health district continues to receive intermittent reports of infection from hotel guests.
The Animal Foundation has taken in a whole lot of pups. 164 Pomeranians came to the shelter after police found the animals in a box truck in Sandy Valley. The woman who drove the truck was reportedly breeding the dogs in her backyard in San Bernadino and was tipped off that her property would be searched. Officials say there were three to five dogs per cage and that the cages were stacked inside the truck. The dogs will be medically evaluated and groomed to help detect any potential problems. The dogs are on an indefinite hold by animal control. Shelter officials cannot determine whether or when the dogs will be made available for adoption.
The Love Store, a retailer whose products include vibrators and lingerie, will open a new location this week next to the downtown healing garden dedicated to the Las Vegas shooting. The store, located near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Third Street, will staff 30 employees, Wheeler said. This is the fifth Love Store, with three around the valley and one in Victorville, California. Officials approved the architectural plans for the store in July, according to city records. Love Store received a certificate of occupancy on Oct. 11. Some who work in the arts district disagree with having a store that sells sex-related items next to a memorial for shooting victims. Las Vegas Valley artist Nancy Good, who’s held exhibits in the arts district, said the combination will turn into a punchline.

Class is in session at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas Golden Knights University helps teach hockey knowledge to local fans. The curriculum includes offensive, defensive and special teams strategy. Tuition costs $495 for five sessions, and you get to skate on Knights home ice before class begins. Tuition is reduced if you’re a season-ticket holder. You also get a free meal and a ticket to a Knights game after class. The “professors” hope that the classes will make games more enjoyable for fans with limited hockey knowledge.
The wait is almost over. Lotus of Siam will open its new location next week. The original location on East Sahara Avenue closed in September due to flood damage. Lotus of Siam’s new location is at 620 E. Flamingo Road, where Roy’s used to be. The restaurant will open to the public next Monday.

It’s officially the holidays at Bellagio! The Conservatory and Botanical Gardens switched to a festive holiday display. There are 34,000 flowers on display, 28,000 of which are poinsettias. The center of the display is a 42-foot Christmas tree with 2,500 ornaments and 7,000 LED lights. New this year is an large ice queen. 6 large polar bears surround the display, covered in carnations and hydrangeas There’s even a train running through the display with a camera so you can see its route. It took 125 people to assemble the whole display. The holiday display will be open through January 6.
Charles Manson’s false teeth are now on display at a Las Vegas museum. The cult leader died Nov. 19 at age 83. Manson masterminded the cold-blooded murders of nine people in 1969. His dentures and prison shower flip-flops are among the newest pieces at the Haunted Museum. The faux choppers are in a room devoted to serial killers. TV ghost hunter Zak Bagans says the dentures were stolen in 2010 by a fellow inmate while Manson took a shower.

A museum plans to catalog every item from the Las Vegas shooting memorial. Viewers have until Dec. 17 to see crosses and mementos before they become part of the Clark County Museum’s permanent collection. Cataloging the thousands of items could take more than a year. Each item gets a detailed description and is photographed from several angles. Items will be packaged and preserved in materials designed for long-term storage. Florida State University Head Coach Jimbo Fisher is Leaving to Coach at Texas A&M Fisher resigned on Friday, just one day ahead of Florida State’s final game of the season. Kevin Sumlin, the previous head coach at A&M, was fired earlier this week. In his eight years in charge, Fisher lead FSU to a 83-23 record with a 5-2 record in bowl games. After the mass shooting in Las Vegas, 87 children are coping with the loss of a parent. Of the 58 people killed at the Route 91 Harvest festival, 33 were parents. The youngest child to lose a parent was just six weeks old when his mom, Rocio Guillen-Rocha, was killed. Losing a parent in such a public and traumatic way can send a child into a tailspin, UNLV clinical psychologist Michelle Paul says.
Gunman Stephen Paddock fired more than 1,100 rounds the night of the Las Vegas shooting. The total includes about 200 rounds fired from Paddock’s Mandalay Bay corner suite and into the hallway of the 32nd floor. The mass shooting left 58 concertgoers dead and more than 500 injured. Lombardo said they found about 4,000 more rounds of unused ammunition in the gunman’s suite. Investigators have not determined why Paddock stopped shooting.

At age 17, Cristina Hernandez found herself homeless in Las Vegas. At age 33, she has hit the sweet spot in Washington, landing a coveted White House fellowship.
Hernandez received her B.A. from UNLV in 2010 and had begun work as a contractor who trained military personnel at Nellis Air Force Base. Her fellowship project put Hernandez in the Office of Personnel Management, where she is working to advance an executive order signed by President Donald Trump to “create a lean, accountable, more efficient government that works for the American people.”
Marcus Maddox, 30, is accused of fatally stabbing his 12-year-old daughter and leaving his 15-year-old son for dead. Authorities say he then drove across the valley and attempted to kill his wife and himself. An officer climbed through a window and found Tishia Maddox face down on a bed at Siegel Suites on East Craig Road. She had a severe wound to her forehead. When police arrived, they found Marcus Maddox with a gunshot wound to his head. Officials found the couple’s children in a Budget Suites room more than 17 hours later. Marcus and Tishia Maddox and their son remain in critical condition at University Medical Center.
Tesla is on track for its hiring and tax incentive goals in Nevada despite lagging in meeting production goals.
Nevada awarded Tesla a tax incentive package in 2014 amounting to $1.2 billion in tax breaks to make a $3.5 billion capital investment in Nevada by 2024. Nearly three years in, the company has made an almost $2.7 billion capital investment. The Trump administration will allow legally hunted elephant trophies from Zimbabwe and Zambia to be imported to the United States. The decision reverses a ban put in place by the Obama administration in 2014. According to ABC News, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife official confirmed the proposed rule change. a spokesperson said.
