Two very worthwhile events

The economy is slumping, but there’s still a spirit of charitable giving in Southern Nevada. You need look no farther than two upcoming events for excellent examples of places your generosity will be most appreciated.

The first is the 22nd annual Festival of Trees and Lights benefit for the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada. It’s set for Thursday at the Paris Las Vegas.

In addition to a great dinner, a silent auction will be held for some incredible gifts. The best part is all proceeds benefit the organization that helps provide speech and physical therapy for those touched by Down Syndrome.

For ticket information, call 648-1990.

Then there’s the 23rd annual Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada golf tournament Nov. 29 at TPC Summerlin. For more information, call the Candlelighters office at 737-1919.
