Going green can energize room

The color green in decoration will always be in fashion, especially in our homes. It’s the shades and pairings that root this multifaceted hue in a particular decade or style. It’s strange, but I always think to myself that I don’t actually like green, and yet I use it in my interiors a lot. Green has a timeless versatility and organic spirit that is unique.

Fireplace type may not let you put another log on the fire

DEAR DESIGNER: I have a two part question about my fireplace. I don’t like the gas logs that are inside. I’ve seen new glass options on the market. How do I know if this is something I can utilize in my fireplace? And, is it difficult to add glass doors to the firebox? The old rocks got really dusty and I’d like to keep the dust out. — Carol.

What are the procedures to follow to paint the exterior a different color?

Q: We painted our home about two months ago and sent our homeowners association a letter stating that we were going to paint and also sent a color chip explaining that we were only going to reverse the existing colors that were on the home. We asked other homeowners who have also painted their home if they received permission and we were told they did not. We never heard back from the HOA, so we proceeded. We received a letter of cease and desist and were told the HOA never received our first letter. After receiving this letter, we applied for permission with all the proper paper work for home improvements, color palettes and signatures. We then received another letter of decline. We have appealed their decision and have a meeting scheduled with them.
