Logandale’s Mormon chapel, regarded as the “centerpiece of life” for many of its 1,400 members, was destroyed by an early morning blaze that broke out in a back room and spread to the nearby sanctuary.
No one was in the building around 4:10 a.m. when volunteer firefighters were alerted to heavy smoke and fire coming from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints about 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison said.
Leaders said Wednesday that they plan to rebuild the chapel, central to the communities of Logandale, Moapa and Overton.
