Plan would have raised taxes; legislators begin overriding vetoes

As promised, Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons has vetoed the Legislature’s proposed $781 million package of tax increases as well as the spending it would have funded. Tonight, lawmakers overrode three of Gibbons’ eight vetoes. They will meet tomorrow in an attempt to override the rest.
