Let’s credit Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie for finally halting vehicle thefts, break-ins, gang violence and domestic disturbances. Heck, 9-1-1 dispatchers now take calls for lost pets and playground disputes between 2-year-olds — our local cops have that much time on their hands.

Three from LV part of ‘phishing’ case arrests

LOS ANGELES — Authorities said Wednesday they have arrested 33 people, including three Las Vegas residents, in breaking up a crime ring in the U.S. and Egypt in which an elaborate “phishing” scam bilked bank customers out of at least $1 million.

Correctional officer arrested in Pahrump armed robberies

Police in Nye County have arrested a Nevada corrections officer in connection with a pair of armed robberies at a Pahrump convenience store. Pahrump resident Vincent Matthew Czechorosky, 24, was taken into custody by the Nye County sheriff’s office early Wednesday morning after a car chase that ended with a deputy firing shots at the suspect’s vehicle.
