Appeal planned over Ashjian candidacy

CARSON CITY — The American Independent Party says it will appeal a judge’s ruling to allow Tea Party of Nevada candidate Scott Ashjian to remain on November’s ballot.

James Cameron: 3-D will become standard format

SEOUL, South Korea — “Avatar” director James Cameron said Thursday that 3-D will replace 2-D as the standard, mainstream format for film, television and online content in less than 25 years. Viewers will soon not only enjoy films in 3-D theaters but all forms of entertainment, including sports and music shows on TVs and laptops, Cameron said at a technology forum in Seoul.

‘Idol’ curtain closes on Michael Lynche

LOS ANGELES — The credits have rolled on “American Idol” finalist Michael Lynche. The 26-year-old personal trainer from Queens, N.Y., was cut from the competition Wednesday. Lynche was rescued by the show’s judges five weeks ago, but he received the fewest viewer votes following his predictable rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Will You Be There” from “Free Willy” on Tuesday’s movie-themed edition.
