Give principals more leeway on staffing

To the editor: As a former New York City public school teacher of 30 years, I have a few observations to make about our educational problems in Nevada.

Tax sunsets rising

It was looking so promising for the anti-tax caucus. For the first time in nearly a decade, it appeared the Nevada political faction that believes taxes are always bad was poised to win the day.

Water Cooler

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that we’ve been talking about lately.

Work never ends — once you start

Another Sunday, and sooo much to do — it just never stops! First, I need to go outside and get everything out of that deck storage box, because it’s just so gross and mildewy and dirty from the winter, and I need to clean all the pool toys and chemicals, and scrub the whole box, and I’ll spray everything that needs it with that Lysol Mildew Remover, and just air everything out … but it’s so hot out there … and, I just took a shower, and I’ll get all sweaty, and no one wants that. Maybe I’ll do it one morning, when it’s cooler, although that can’t be till next weekend, but, I’ll be gone next weekend for Georgie’s preschool graduation, so that won’t work. Please, what’s the hurry, school’s almost out — I’ll do it in June, for sure.
